The SAM Pelvic Sling II, Large is a medical stabilization device intended to provide rapid, safe, and effective stabilization of suspected pelvic fractures in pre-hospital and emergency care settings. Engineered for use during patient transport, this non-invasive, circumferential belt delivers controlled, consistent compression to help reduce pelvic instability and associated bleeding, allowing first responders to manage pelvic injuries confidently en route to a definitive care facility.
Featuring a patented “auto-stop” buckle, the sling applies a standardized force of approximately 180 N and automatically locks once the correct tension is achieved — eliminating guesswork and minimizing the risk of over- or under-tightening. This mechanism offers clear auditory and tactile feedback, supporting confident application even in high-stress environments.
The sling is constructed from soft, durable materials that are radiolucent and MRI-safe (up to 3 T), ensuring uninterrupted stabilization during diagnostic imaging. Its low-profile design preserves access to the abdomen and groin areas, facilitating surgical preparation, catheterization, and other interventions without removing the device.
Sized to fit adult patients with a pelvic circumference of approximately 91–152 cm, the Large version is suitable for a broad range of adult trauma scenarios. Reusable and easy to clean, the device supports repeated field use, making it ideal for ambulance services, rescue teams, and military medics. The intuitive three-step application — place, tighten, and secure — enables rapid deployment, typically in under one minute.
This device is not intended for use in pediatric patients.
