The NORSE RESCUE® DECOPIN is an emergency decompression needle intended for the management of tension pneumothorax in adult patients suffering from progressive respiratory distress due to thoracic trauma. This sterile, single-use device is specifically designed for use by trained medical personnel in pre-hospital and emergency settings. It features a 14-gauge, 3.25-inch (8.25 cm) cannula, providing the necessary length and diameter to effectively access the pleural space and relieve intrathoracic pressure.
Sterilized through irradiation, the DECOPIN ensures a high standard of patient safety. It is intended solely for adult patients and is contraindicated for use in pediatric or pregnant patients, as well as in cases of simple pneumothorax, hemothorax, barotrauma, or in individuals with known pleural adhesions. Proper aseptic technique must be followed during use to prevent infection. The device is designed for single use only and should be disposed of in accordance with local biomedical waste regulations after use. It has a shelf life of five years from the date of manufacture, ensuring readiness for critical situations.
