The Prometheus Traction Splint (PTS) is developed to support the effective management of suspected limb fractures in pre-hospital and emergency settings. By enabling controlled traction, it helps minimize movement at the injury site, supporting patient stability during assessment and transport.
Designed with direct input from end-users, the PTS incorporates practical enhancements that improve ease of use and adaptability in dynamic environments. The system includes a robust, adjustable traction pole, ankle hitch, lower leg strap, lower thigh strap (pre-fitted to the pole), and an upper thigh strap. These components work together to provide secure and controlled application across a wide range of patient sizes.
The adjustable pole allows for immediate length modification, making the device suitable for both adult and paediatric patients. Its design supports application by a single operator in under two minutes, without the need to roll or reposition the patient, which helps maintain stability during care. The absence of an ischial bar contributes to improved patient comfort during use.
Extended strap lengths accommodate a broader patient population, while the lightweight and compact construction (450g; pack size 29.00 cm x 15.00 cm) ensures easy storage and transport. The Prometheus Traction Splint can also be used in conjunction with the Prometheus Pelvic Splint, supporting integrated patient management when required.
This combination of adaptability, portability, and user-focused design makes the Prometheus Traction Splint a dependable solution for managing suspected limb fractures in challenging pre-hospital environments.
